NewsletterApril 2008 Happy Springtime! The spring season is all about new growth and that is also the goal of DHS Club Kids. This, and future newsletters will now be sent to all Executive Directors and English speaking VIP's of the DHS Club. Our hope is that many will check out our website http://www.dhsclubkids.org and be inspired to become a Partner. Last year, we truly made a difference in the lives of many orphaned children and with your help, we will even do more this year. I have received word that all is going well at Mants'ase Children's Home in Lesotho. There in Africa, the summer has ended and the children are back in school. During the summer, an irrigation system was installed so that they could grow vegetables in the garden. The children had the opportunity to grow vegetables in their own plots, where they acquired skills in gardening and sales. In their January Newsletter, DHS Club Kids was thanked for the money we provided for them to purchase their first two washing machines. The House Mothers' lives have been made so much easier since they do the laundry for 50 children. Can you imagine?! I recently received a wonderful newsletter and video from Karakol Children's Home. Reverend Ann Baines and a team from her church spent time there in January, as that is their Christmas time, in Kyrgyzstan. When I received the video of the trip, I just sat watching with the biggest smile on my face. The children all looked very healthy and happy. For Christmas, they were taken shopping and given $20.00 to buy something they needed, which by the looks on the video, they were enjoying tremendously. Later that day, they shared a special meal together. The children were also taken on two trips to go snow sliding. On the video, it was obvious they were having a terrific time together. Last year when Ann and her group visited, the building was cold, which was concerning. With the new heating system that we helped provide, each room was now nice and warm! Also thanks to our 2007 Partners, every bedroom has new beds, mattresses and quilts. We also have heard from Lynetta All Children's Home in India. There the boys are doing well and getting ready for final exams this month. Six of them are preparing for the Government Board exam for graduation. There has been much rain in the area, with flooding, but thankfully the home has been fine. In their free time, the boys have been playing a lot of Cricket and Chess. About $15,000.00 is still needed to complete the second story for sleeping accommodations. I was pleased to let them know that we had just sent them $1,000.00 towards this project. All it takes is a donation to become a DHS Club Kids Partner. That donation is what makes the difference for these children. My hope is that many of you will take that step in helping our orphaned children of the world! God Bless, Pat Burke
