Archive NewsletterJanuary 2007- Happy New Year! Wow! Getting our site up and running has been wonderful as many more of you have joined with us as new partners, supporting the orphaned children of the world. I hope as the months pass and you read monthly of all the great things being done around the world, even more people will make a commitment to help us to make this world a better place, one child at a time. We have received word from the Frontlines Missions & Ministries that their trip to Campur, Guatemala was a great success. The team met with an architect and now have the plans drawn up for the new children's home there. I have asked them to let us know what the building fund goal is, so that we may be a part of reaching that amount and having the construction start. To help get them started, we are sending them $1,000. We are told that there are many orphaned children there who truly need this home for shelter and care. The money sent to Karakol Children’s Home was greatly appreciated. As soon as the check arrived, I received an e-mail saying that the home was in need of beds, so they were very excited to be able to order 5 new beds complete with sheets and blankets. Christmas there is celebrated in January, so a team from Cross Country World Missions went earlier this month to celebrate the holidays with the children there. With the money we sent, they were able to buy coats, boots, hats, mittens and a small gift for each child and staff. Since it is very cold in Kyrgzstan, they estimate the winter heating bill will be around $6000. Therefore we are sending them an additional $1,000 to help with this expense. The children at the Mants’ase Children’s Home need to wear a uniform and we received an email stating they had no idea how they were going to buy them, when our check arrived. They have since ordered them to be made by a local woman and will be sending us pictures of the children in uniform when completed. If any money was left, they were going to use it for electricity since that is a large monthly expense for them. We will therefore be sending them $500 for that need. We have received a nice thank you from the Lynetta All Children’s Home, but no mention as to how the money was spent. I will follow-up with them and let you know next month. I also will be looking into an orphanage in Cambodia that was recommended by a VIP who worked there several years ago before moving away, but still helps there when on “holiday”. I will be getting more information about this orphanage and making sure they fit our Mission Statement. Once again it has been nice to share with you what your money has been doing to help the orphaned children of the world. Again a special thanks to all the new partners listed this month. My hope is that even more of you will see that we are being very accountable for the money sent and that it is making a difference for many children around the world. Pat Burke |
