Archive NewsletterJune 2007 - Summer News We have received wonderful news from all of our homes, so I want to thank each and every one of you, who have so graciously given to help our "DHSClubKids". Because of you, their lives have and will continue to change for the better. For about $1.00 per day, the basic needs of a child are covered. So don’t think that every dollar we receive from you is not truly appreciated or important. In fact, I want to repeat, that all money sent to us is sent directly on to our childrens' homes. Either the DHS Club, or our family absorbs all administrative costs. Now on to the wonderful things that have been happening. We received a great newsletter from Frontlines Missions and Ministries about the progress of the "Casa Heidi" orphanage in Guatemala. They state that progress is fully underway. The walls have been finished and last week the roof was being installed. They expect completion early next year and plan for a team to go in early February for a dedication of the building and people involved. Both the Mayor of Campur and the Governor of the area have been highly supportive of this project, so they are expecting great things to happen at this home. They currently have all projected money needed for the completion of the home. We will continue to support them for furnishing and supplies when needed. After spending time with Reverend Jeyaraj, the founder of Lynetta All Children’s Home in India, he has stayed in touch with us regarding with all the projects and needs there. He is planning to purchase land for a girl’s home, but is still negotiating the price. Their immediate needs are to complete the second floor of the building of the boy’s dorm and then to purchase 40 beds and mattresses. Currently, the first floor is used for sleeping, schooling, eating and recreation. We have sent them a check for $1,200.00 toward these needs. Mantsase Children’s Home in South Africa has also sent us a newsletter with what has been going on there. The children are all well and back at school after a short break over Easter. They have two new little girls, a 10 year old and a 2 year old, which now puts their number of children at 46. They also now have 500 laying hens and getting about 180 eggs per day, and are in hopes of getting up to 400 per day as soon as the chickens settle in. The eggs are used for consumption at the Home and fund raising. They have also been able to buy a cow, which provides fresh milk for the children. However, since it is winter there now, the garden is not doing as well. We have sent them also a total of $1,200.00 for clothing and electricity. Finally, we received a lovely note and newsletter about the happenings at Karakol Children’s Home in Kyrgystan. First, the note thanked us for all we do for the children and bringing hope to them. The children are so excited about their new beds with mattresses, that they invite friends to come and see them. We also were told that it is harder to get sponsors for the older children, yet they are not ready to go out on their own. They hope in the future to have a separate home and houseparent for these older children. The hope is to help them continue school, guide them in getting a job, and show them how to budget their money. We also have sent a check there for $1,200.00. Now that I have updated you with what is going on, I hope you realize that because of you, the news is good and promising for the future. May you and yours have a wonderful summer and I will update you again in the fall newsletter. Pat Burke
